A Bird

Was this in captivity? How did you get so close and actually pick it up?

It was not a real captivity. We've been visiting the birdwatching and bird-ringing activity by the local enthusiasts. There are lot of birds travel over and via Israel North-South and biologists put net traps to catch some of them in order to study their traveling routes. Once the bird has been caught, it's checked for the weight, size and overall health. Then it is either ringed and registered or it's existing ring is read and also registered.
So here is just one of the little wonders just before it was set free.
